Established in 1951 by John Murphy, J. Murphy & Sons Limited has developed into a multi-disciplined civil engineering and building contractor with a turnover of £420m and employing over 2500 staff.

Privately owned, it continues to be one of the UK and Ireland’s best-known and most respected names and is a major force in civil and mechanical engineering, pipelines and tunnelling. Group companies also specialise in piling, drilling, stabilisation and demolition and pipeline testing.

The Company head office is based in North London with well-established regional offices in Golborne, Dinnington, Cannock and Ireland and satellite offices in Leeds, Stockton-on-Tees and Paisley, Scotland, therefore ensuring the Company provides a national service to the water sector. Services include pipelines, rehabilitation of water and wastewater systems, tunnels, water and sewage treatment works for key customers, including Thames Water and United Utilities.
